Our main goal in the lab is to gain deeper insight into the structural and dynamic aspects of Golgi function. Currently, our research is focused on three areas: (1) identification and characterization of new Golgi proteins, (2) mechanisms of carrier formation in Golgi-to-plasma membrane transport, and (3) mechanisms of Golgi fragmentation during mitosis and the Golgi checkpoint.
NOTICEAs of September 2007 the Malhotra lab will no longer be located at UCSD. We will be moving to our new research institute located in the CRG ( Centre for Genomic Regulation) in Barcelona, Spain.
The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is located in the 4th, 5th and 6th floor of the Parc de Recerca Biomedica de Barcelona (Barcelona Biomedical Research Park, PRBB)
